DetourMaps | A City Guide Design Project

Title: Independent Consultant – UX Designer

Location: Entire Marketing Group LLC, Chicago, USA

UX Projects: Detour Maps – The City Guide Web Application, User Style Guide Manual

This position enhanced my UI/UX skills while I worked on two major projects – The re-designing of the city guide web application and the company’s user manual and style guide.

DetourMaps | The City Guide Web Application

Sample Screen of DetourMaps Web Application

The City Guide Web Application called the Detour Maps is an application aimed for a particular area, where residents can search for events, look for deals and coupons at local businesses, get alerts about possible robberies, weather conditions, lost and found items, news from the community, and the like.

It has a dynamic map-like feature from which users can find the nearest deals from their local businesses quickly, in turn promoting and helping those businesses. The city guide web app has a business dashboard and a user dashboard wherein both types of users can create their accounts respectively.

This map feature also lets users learn about possible alerts nearby. It also has a comment module that enables users to chat and let the community know about prospective dangers around the area.

The Company’s Style Guide (User Manual)

The second project was the manual style guide for the company.

Using Photoshop and Illustrator, I created several art boards to define the company’s brand guide clearly stating its color palette, typography, headers, and font styles and sizes.

I re-designed the company’s logo and several other icons related to the company and the City Guide Web App project.

The Manual Style Guide also contained the layouts pertaining to web and mobile on a responsive scale.

— Note: According to the company’s policies, I am not publishing any zoomed-in screenshots or Sketch files of my UX work. However, I have tried to explain my work to the best of my ability. Thank you! —
